LYRICS: OORLOGSSTEMMEN
*******Voices of War*******
Some people fight a million miles from home
Some people might not find shelter from the storm
Some people die for what hides in the ground
Some lie too young 2 feet wide & 6 feet down
Some people say they’ve got God on their side
Some people pray just to make it through the night
Some people fall for tryin’ to be brave
Some crawl too soon from the cradle to the grave
Voices of war still roar after one century
As if we never learned anything from history
Voices of war no more, if we stand as one
We shall overcome
Some people kill for freedom & for peace
Some people will always be a refugee
Some people march for the lies they’ve been told
Some charge too fast & stay forever young
Voices of war still roar after one century
As if we never learned anything from history
Voices of war no more, if we stand as one
We shall overcome
Voices of war no more, if we stand as one
We shall overcome

There’s a river in my country
Only water flowin’ to the sea
But that river once set us free
Let me take you to its levee’s,
Let’s walk through its poppy fields
Now hush & peaceful it feels unreal
See the soldiers in their trenches
Feel the cold mud of no man’s land
Hear the Last Post for the cursed & damned
And I don’t know if we will make it
I don’t know if we’re meant to be
If this river can make a difference, so can we
Oh my sweet baby, walk with me
There’s a river in my country
Once so strong to flood & drain
Maybe that’s why it has iron in its name
Let me take you to its lock gates
Let’s drive through its green lands
Now calm & quiet it’s hard to understand
And if this river has the power
To make an army fall apart
I’ll be strong enough to win your heart
Oh my sweet baby, why don’t you flood my heart
*******Een Houten Kruis*******
Mijn maten sterven jong, terwijl ‘k blijf bestaan
Wiens glimlach me herinnerde aan m’n jeugd.
‘k vraag me af, nu da’k je heb moeten laten gaan
De doden waren geen vreemden, maar mijn vrienden;
Dat je straks gewoon de kamer binnenloopt;
Zullen onze plannen altijd dromen blijven.
Vergruisd of vereerd naargelang hun stand.
Ookal looft meneer pastoor jouw helden daad
En alle offers die je bracht voor kerk & staat;
‘t Is winst noch troost, dat door ‘t oorlogsgedruis
Jouw naam nu staat op een roemrijk houten kruis.
Kom terug, kom terug, jouw dood was niet eens nodig;
Want deze oorlog is een vette leugen & zelfs overbodig;
*******A Wooden Cross*******
My friends are dying young; while I remain,
Doomed to outlive these tragedies of pain
And half-forget how once I said farewell
To those who fought and suffered till they fell
To you, the dearest of them, and the last
Of all whose gladness linked me with the past.
And in this hour I wonder, seeing you go,
What further jest war keeps, having laid you low.
Men grey with years get wisdom from the strange
Procession of new faces, and the change
That keeps them eager. I am young, and yet
I've scores of banished eyes I can't forget;
The dead were my companions and my peers,
And I have lost them in a storm of tears.
I cannot call you back; I cannot say
One word to speed you on your hidden way.
Only I hoard the hours we spent together
Ranging brown Sussex woods in wintry weather,
Till, blotting out to-day, I half believe
That I shall find you home again on leave,
As I saw you, riding down the lane,
And lost in lowering dusk and drizzling rain,
Contented with the hunt we'd had, and then
Sad lest we'd never ride a hunt again.
You didn't mean to die; it wasn't fair
That you should go when we'd so much to share.
Good nags were all your need, and not a grave,
Or people testifying that you were brave.
The world's too full of heroes, mostly dead,
Mocked by rich wreaths and tributes nobly said,
Nor, while the parson preaches from his perch,
To read your name gold-lettered in the church.
And it's no gain to you, nor mends our loss,
To know you've earned a glorious wooden cross;
Come back, come back; you didn't want to die;
And all this war's a sham, a stinking lie;
And the glory that our fathers laud so well
A crowd of corpses freed from pangs of hell.

How long can we keep on standing tall
Rising after they made us fall
How much longer do we need to feel small
Before a change is a comin’
How long can we sit here and wait
Bail out problems we didn’t create
How much longer do we need to stay enslaved
Before a change is a comin’
Stand up & raise your voice
Break this silent discontent
Stand up & raise your voice
We’re the 99%
How long can we bend before we break
Cleaning up their failures & mistakes
How much longer can we afford to wait
Before a change is a comin’
How long can we forgive & forget
All their promises that were never met
How stupid do we really have to get
Before a change is a comin’
Stand up & raise your voice
Break this silent discontent
Stand up & raise your voice
We’re the 99%
*******Let's Work Together*******
Together we'll stand, divided we'll fall
Come on now, people let's get on the ball
Let’s work together Come on, come on Let's work together
Because together we will stand, every boy, every girl and man
When things go wrong as they sometimes will
And the road you travel it stays all uphill
Let’s work together Come on, come on Let's work together
Because together we will stand, every boy, every girl and man
Well now, make someone happy, make someone smile
Let's all work together and make life worthwhile
Let’s work together Come on, come on Let's work together
Because together we will stand, every boy, every girl and man
*******Give Peace A Chance 2014 (NL)*******
Iedereen babbelt over Bieber & Gaga,
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
Iedereen babbelt over siliconen & botox, BV’s & hobbykoks,
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.

Ev'rybody's talking about Bieber & Gaga, mixin’ up our vodka,
twitter & facebook, cyber bullies, selfies, anorexic “help me’s”
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
Ev'rybody's talking about sharin’ our privacy,
spyin’ for our liberty, wikileaks
& big brother, friends we can’t really see,
drones killing the enemy
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
Ev'rybody's talking about difference in DNA,
women’s rights & bashin’ gays, nurture or nature,
with the truth on our side,
talkin’ with dynamite.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
Ev'rybody's talking about breaking news & speculations,
advertisin’ new sensations, who’s hot & who’s not,
Watchin’ war on TV numbs us from reality
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
